The saying goes "All for a good cause" however the money we raised at yesterday's morning tea on behalf of the Cancer Council isn't for a good cause, it is for a very important cause and one that I am sure is close to many people's hearts.
Unfortunately I don't think that there would be many people out there these days that don't know of someone who has been touched by cancer. We have lost 2 very special family members to cancer in the last 18 months and anything that raises funds to help those affected, to further research in the prevention of cancer and to raise awareness for all cancer is something we'll always support.
I put the challenge out there to my staff members to have a bit of a bake off (I think that Dee got the nod on best hedgehog slice) so that all of our supportive park guests would have something delicious to enjoy. We also had some staff members, who preferred to donate money towards our raffle prizes. In the words of Rick "I'll donate money cause I don't want to poison anyone!". I would also like to thank the Riverfront Kiosk & Cafe for donating some vouchers as raffle prizes.
As you can see from the picture we had a great turn out and raised $195.50 for the Cancer Council. The only little hiccup was that I hadn't arranged any milk for the tea and coffee. I don't drink tea & coffee so that is my excuse but luckily the Riverfront Kiosk & Cafe came to the rescue and quickly shuttled some over.
For those guests that attended, thank you very much for your kind donations and I hope that you had a great morning.
