Whale Migration

Winter is here and it is definitely my favourite time of the year as we get to experience the annual whale migration!

Most of Whales that we get to see are Humpbacks but occasionally we see Southern Right Whales, Minke Whales and Bryde’s Whales.

The Whales migrate through our region from mid-May to the end of July and then make the journey back home again from mid-September to late November.

Many of the Whales even have calves with them! It is not uncommon to see a Whale and her calf resting or playing in our bay as number one beach is where they stop to get out of the strong currents.

Check with our reception for more information or sightings as we are always on whale watch!
