The Catholic Parish of Forster Tuncurry officially came into being as the Catholic Parish of Forster in January 1957 with the arrival of the first Parish Priest, Fr Daniel Linehan, who was appointed on 1 December 1956. Prior the formation of the new Parish, the districts of Forster and Tuncurry formed part of the Krambach Parish, with the Parish Priests of Krambach attending to the spiritual and pastoral needs of Catholics in those districts.
