Three Brothers Region – Manning Valley – Scenic Drive

0

Taree, NSW

Around 25 kilometres north of Taree is the stunning mountainous Three Brothers Region.  For a unique drive through lush hinterland and pristine bushland, turn west from the Pacific Highway at South Moorland into Forest Road.  This leads onto the unsealed Coopernook Forest Drive with interesting attractions along the way.  Stop at Newbys Cave, a 5 minute walk from Newbys Creek Road, then on to Newbys Lookout which is wheelchair friendly and a great place to observe soaring wedge-tailed eagles. Newbys and Flat Rock Lookouts afford sweeping views from the Lansdowne Escarpment and Starrs Creek Rainforest Area has great picnic facilities and a rainforest boardwalk.

There are two massive Blackbutt trees near Middle Brother Mountain. Marvel at the Bird Tree which is the largest tree by volume in New South Wales with a diameter of 3.6 metres and height of 69 metres.
