Prawn Festival 2015

The Prawn Festival is almost here. I know that locals to Ballina and regular visitors are very excited for this event. This is more than just a street side festival; this is a celebration for the whole community, and our welcomed visitors to enjoy. I can assure you, that you will enjoy the festival, even if you aren’t a seafood lover.

For those who want to get involved in the seafood side of things you can:

  • Watch the local TAFE apprentices take part in a Crustacean Cook-off and learn something to try for yourself
  • Check out the amazing prawn sand art display
  • Get your hands a little “dirty” and participate in the hourly shell off competition
  • Sample some of the best prawn dishes from chefs, there will be so much to choose from!

The kids will want to go to the Prawn Festival every weekend after they enjoy the following:

  • Macadamia Castles Animal Show
  • Seabird Rescue Show
  • Face Painting and Colouring In stalls
  • Amusement rides such as jumping castles and a Ferris Wheel
  • Fair Go Skateboarding Competition
  • Sandcastle building competitions
  • Boat Parade
  • Bunnings DIY River Raft – Races
  • Fireworks at 8.30pm

Yes, there is a lot to see and do, but that is just the start. This event is not to be missed.
