Going Bush at NCHP Lennox Head

Weeds are one of the major threats to Australia's natural environment and the parks in the NSW Crown Holiday Parks Trust (CHPT) Group often work with local land care groups on sustainable projects like dune restoration, bush regeneration and weed control.

Reflections Holiday Parks (NCHP – a division of CHPT) Lennox Head has been working extensively with Lennox Head Landcare and bush regeneration specialists, Ecoplus Region to remove environmental weeds from the park's surrounding bushland to reduce the impact on neighbouring bush and lake areas. There are a variety of problem weeds, including the particularly invasive Lantana classed as one of Australia’s worst weeds, which both teams have been helping the park to combat.

As well as providing advice on the park’s current weed management program, Lennox Head Landcare has donated a collection of seedlings propagated locally for the park to use in its replanting program, while Ecoplus Region has been instrumental in the physical eradication and removal of the weeds NCHP Lennox Head Park Managers Aaron Matenga and Debbie Smith said the park was committed to rehabilitating and restoring natural areas.

“The results in the last six months have been amazing and we are looking forward to continuing our collaboration with important local environmental groups and watching our good plants thrive uninhibited,” they said.
