Tourist Drive 28 is our discovery trail that allows you to explore the picturesque rural villages where you will find parks, tearooms, country pubs, galleries and lots of shops! Pack a picnic lunch, or stock up along the way with some delicious local produce.
Up stream along the Richmond River, the river village of Wardell is a great place to start your journey. The drive from Wardell to Alstonville takes in spectacular rural vistas as it rises to the top of the Alstonville Plateau. Head along Wardell Road where you can enjoy a rainforest boardwalk through Victoria Park Nature Reserve, a remnant of the ‘Big Scrub’ – the vast rainforest which once blanketed the region. You will also discover popular attractions Summerland House Farm and Amaze N Place.
The town of Alstonville is known as an Aladdin’s cave for curio hunters and culture buffs with its historic buildings, classic Australian architecture, antique shops, galleries and cafes. Heading out along Pearces Creek Road through beautiful green countryside you will continue along to Teven Road which takes you past Teven Valley Golf Course, a delightful course in a superbly tranquil setting. To finish (or start) the tourist drive you will find Tintenbar, home to the beautiful Tintenbar Oval and the Tintenbar General Store.
