Turning off the Pacific Highway at the Port Macquarie, head west towards Wauchope. If driving from Port Macquarie, follow the Oxley Highway west to Wauchope. Make sure you stop at Timbertown to discover the timber industry of days gone by in the region. From Wauchope, follow the signs to the picturesque village of Comboyne and on to Elands and Ellenborough Falls. The road from Comboyne to Elands is a gravel road so drive to conditions but the drive is spectacular as you meander along the plateau towards the village of Elands.
The Legendary Ellenborough Falls is located just a few kms from Elands with great picnic facilities and a kiosk open on weekends and during school holidays. There is a local coop shop open 7 days in Elands but no fuel is sold.
After visiting the second longest single drop waterfall in the southern hemisphere, continue on down the mountain on the gravel road for 16kms towards Wingham via the villages of Bobin and Marlee. Visit Red Tail Wines in Marlee before discovering the historic township of Wingham, the gateway to the Falls. Bent on Food in Wingham is a multi-award winning cafe and here the Wingham Museum and Wingham Brush Nature Reserve offer places to visit for a great day.
